From functioning on the ground to true lessons: hospital functioning on October 7
A new study led by Maximilian Nerlander, a doctoral student at Linköping University in Sweden and a visiting researcher at the Braun School of Public Health, along with Prof. Adam Rose of the School of Public Health and Dr. Debra West of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Assuta Ashdod hospital, provides an in-depth look at the functioning of a civilian hospital under fire on October 7. The study reveals how years of practice have enabled teams to function while facing unprecedented difficulties, but also reveals critical challenges that invite lessons to be learned on a global scale, including communication problems, manpower shortages, and uneven allocation of casualties to different hospitals.
